Construction supervision
Technical supervision of the construction, modernization, or repair of the ship by the customer is standard practice and an integral part of the shipbuilding process. Depending on the project's complexity, the builder's reputation, or the level of confidence, this can be either scheduled or selective inspections of the most critical points or continuous supervision of each step.
During the construction of a ship, there is always a program of inspections and tests approved by the classification society. Following this program and production plan, the builder is obliged to invite the customer's representative and the Class inspector to the schedule's inspections. In fact, it is impossible to carry out a high-quality acceptance of the vessel at the very end because there are many hard-to-reach places on the ship. As well as impossible to assess the quality of welded seams after applying paint and varnish coating at all.
Construction and supervision is a kind of cat and mouse game. The shipyard, to make life easier for itself, is trying to hide the defects. The task of the inspector is to find them and force the shipyard to rectify them. The competent claim works and foreseen contractual sanctions must be carried if the builder ignores the customer's remarks and refuses to eliminate the identified defects. But the task of the superintendent is not only finding faults and fray for it. He must be able to analyze and find solutions for getting out of difficult situations that often happen during construction.
The numerous vessels were built under the supervision of our engineers. Thousands of defects, from minor to critical, were identified and eliminated. Many conflicts have been resolved. And each case has ended up with a well-built vessel, a satisfied customer, and a builder proud of his work.
